It is four years since Lucite International (LI) became a part of Mitsubishi Rayon Corporation Ltd (MRC) on the 28 May 2009. In that time the businesses have come closer together, growing ever stronger and further strengthening the position as the world’s largest supplier of MMA, the essential building block for all acrylics.
At LI we have a simple philosophy, which embraces the idea of continuous improvement. It is captured in our brand promise of ‘Going Further’ in all that we do. ‘Best Quality for a Better Life’ expresses the MRC philosophy in which they seek to correspond to the needs of customers and society. Both philosophies are totally consistent with our group holding company, Mitsubishi Chemicals Holding Corporation’s (MCHC) commitment to achieving KAITEKI – a state of sustainability, materializing comfort for people, society and for the earth.
Understanding and unifying these philosophies and applying them to everyday working life is something that continues to evolve as MRC and LI people work together at all levels to integrate their individual operations .
Masashi Tsujimae, a Director in the Acrylic Sheet Business in Toyko, said of the partnership: “LI and MRC share an excellent track record in technology and production and have built good relationships with customers. However, our production technologies, sales networks and market experience are completely different and combining these is what makes us special. I believe this is what enables us to be an every more reliable supplier that ever before.”
Chris Robinson, Business Manager Lucite® Acrylic Surfaces in the US explains how working together in such an integrated way has benefited customers. He said: “We’ve been able to satisfy our customers’ needs by sourcing from a much wider product spectrum. It has been satisfying to see the investment we’ve made in understanding one another’s businesses and personal experience pay off with fast and effective communications that enable us to deliver projects that span the globe. Ford, McDonalds and 7-11 stores are just some of those that spring to mind.”
From April 2013 the holding company Lucite International Group Ltd has been incorporated into a new entity – Mitsubishi Rayon Lucite Group Ltd.
Ian Lambert, CEO of LI commented: “The continued integration of MRC and LI is a natural step to develop the sense of group identity. This is part of an evolution as we continue to identify and deliver synergies and efficiencies between parts of the MCHC group, and improve all our operations to compete, grow and demonstrate effective leadership in all our markets.
“Our approach from the start of the relationship has been ‘Better Together’. As we continue to pass along the traditions and unify the philosophies of both companies, we are creating a successful business platform for the years ahead.”
