Lucite International (LI) is proud to accept the Chemical Industry Association (CIA) Gold Standard Skills Award in recognition of employee development in the UK. The award is presented to the employer that has contributed most to the acquisition of skills by the workforce through an active programme.
As a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of acrylic-based products LI is committed not only to recruiting the very best talent, but also to nurturing and developing it. Trudy Morrice, HR Manager for the EMEA region adds: “LI recognises that it is talented people who build sustainable businesses, which is why developing and retaining such employees is key to building a successful future for the Company.”
LI periodically assesses the culture of the organisation through global Culture Surveys. Results of these surveys provide each business area and site with feedback, which enables them to take any necessary action at a local level to improve. Although the approach is led by the senior leadership team it also involves employees from across the site.
Over a number of years, a dedicated team at our largest EMEA site, Cassel, has worked closely with employees to develop skills matrices, competencies, standards and behaviours, training and succession programmes, graduate development frameworks and much more in order to improve all aspects of employee recruitment, selection and development. Cassel takes pride in an holistic approach to job competence, career development and a high performance culture, which Faith Hambley, Leaning & Development Officer at Cassel, believes contributed to the win. Faith accepted the award on LI’s behalf, she said: “It was a wonderful evening, a real ‘Oscars event’ for the Chemical Industry and I was delighted to be asked to attend. The atmosphere was buzzing from the start and when Lucite International was called out as the winner of the Gold Standard Skills Award that was just amazing. Everyone at LI can share in this achievement.”
