We are delighted to appear as one of the lead features in Industry Europe, an online and print magazine that focuses on the latest developments at companies operating across all manufacturing industry sectors in European. In the article, Phil Bailey, General Manager of Lucite International’s (LI) business in EAME talked first about the company’s global facilities and commitment to innovation. He said: “We have one of the most diverse asset portfolios of any major acrylics producer and are continually investing to further enhance its capabilities. This is particularly important for us as global demand for MMA continues to grow bringing with it exciting prospects for both our own and our customers’ businesses. Alongside this work, we are investing significantly into our research and development programme, which supports the drive for new opportunities.
“Over the last 15 years we’ve developed and launched Alpha, a completely new technology route to MMA. This breakthrough technology is based upon readily available raw materials – ethylene, methanol and carbon monoxide – and has allowed the company to significantly improve operational costs and remove constraints on plant size. Our first Alpha plant in Singapore became fully operational in 2007, while plans for Alpha plants II and III are progressing well.”
Phil went on to talk about LI’s innovative products and improving productivity and efficiency at the company’s plants in Europe, the US and Asia. He also spoke about the company’s brand promise of ‘Going Further’, a philosophy that is brought to life everyday by the people who work for LI globally. Phil said: “Everything we do comes back to our people and their passion for going that extra mile; building on the great legacy of experience and wealth of knowledge that has accumulated in the organisation over many years. The average length of service in our European business is more than 20 years and attracting and retaining new talent, developing people and generating personal growth is essential as we continue to build an enthusiastic, diverse, multi-skilled workforce.”
