A sensuous yet affordable new bathroom material – Lucite® Stone – is the latest addition to Lucite International’s (LI) cast acrylic product range in EAME. Combining the natural beauty of stone with the performance benefits of acrylic, this exciting solid surface look for bathrooms, is set to help LI’s bath manufacturer customers compete for a greater share of the market.
Solid surface has emerged as one of the key features in the new-look, interior design of bathrooms, which is where Lucite® Stone can now compete.
Lucite® Stone has been developed as a more affordable solid surface product for the bathrooms market, where it has traditionally been seen as very high-end with a price tag to match.
Beccy Jepson, Commercial Manager for the cast acrylic sheet business in EAME, said: “An important part of the development process was to ensure that our product would appeal to interior designers, architects and consumers by offering an affordable, sophisticated solid surface look, but with all the benefits of acrylic. We also had to ensure that our customers could continue to use their existing bath moulds and production processes.
“We believe that Lucite® Stone achieves all of those key criteria and will add value to our bath manufacturers’ portfolios by enabling them to enter this market with a competitive acrylic-based product offering.”
The Lucite® Stone collection colours are inspired by nature and comprise: Moonstone – clean, crisp white with echoes of blue, Sandstone – sophisticated light brown, Earthstone – natural dark brown, Limestone – elegant pale grey, Slate – rich dark grey and Jetstone – smooth intense black.
Not only can Lucite® Stone be moulded and shaped into virtually any form, the complementary colour choices provide complete design freedom to mix and match pieces, such as baths, shower trays and vanity basins, across the bathroom scheme.
Lucite® Stone was launched at ISH, the world’s biggest showcase for innovative bathroom design in Frankfurt, Germany, last month. Those who braved the wintry weather and were lucky enough to get to ISH this year, were able to see a demonstration bath made using new Lucite® Stone at the Excellent Profile stand. With an extremely positive response, Lucite® Stone has great potential in the high-end sector of the bath market.
