It’s hard to believe that it has been ten years since Lucite International (China) Chemical Industry Co Ltd (LICC) moved into the Metro Tower in Shanghai.

To mark the 10th anniversary earlier this year, the Metro Tower management team invited us to celebrate with a themed event – ‘Happy Life Cooking Show’. HR Colleagues Angela Zhang and Amy Zhao share the story with a distinct culinary slant!

To begin the celebrations, and as a warm-up to the much-anticipated Chef Competition, everyone was invited to take part in a ‘Creative Dumpling Competition’. Amy explained: “We organized ourselves into four groups then team members worked together to create a collection of dumplings. After just 10 minutes, we had some amazingly inventive creations on the tables. Each group had a special name for their dumplings: ‘Ten Years’, ‘Golden Spring’, ‘Four Seasons’, and ‘Bouquets of Flowers’.

With lots of laughter along the way, this fun activity was a great way to symbolize the deep feeling of connection between LICC and the Metro Tower…it also gave us a great opportunity to look forward to our bright future in the building.”

Next came the Chef Competition – LICC versus Metro Tower – where two representatives from each team had to complete three specific dishes. Angela explained: “Our chefs were put under the spotlight and really surprised us with their fantastic cooking skills. The rest of us tasted the dishes and voted for our favorites. We were all delighted to have the privilege of tasting some expertly cooked food and there was lots of praise for the chefs and their hidden talents! Happily the competition ended in a tie and the celebrations concluded with lots more fun and laughter.”
