Bargain hunters at the famous January sales are in for a visual treat if they visit one of the Conran shops around the world. This winter, Studio91 and Perspex® customer Cutting Technologies Ltd (CT Ltd) collaborated on the in-store and window decorations producing over 8,000 reindeer, stars, bells, angels, holly, snowflakes, gift tags and a unique 50cm, five-tier Christmas tree centerpiece for each of Conran’s nine shops in London, Paris, and in cities across Japan.
As the designer and manager of the project, Studio91 chose the Fluorescent range of Perspex® for a creative touch to Christmas decorations this season. “The material, for us, had the right colours and the edge-lit range is superb,” commented Sam Hextall, founder and director of Studio91.
Sharing the same passion for innovation, good design and excellent quality, CT Ltd was the natural choice for the fabrication phase. CT Ltd laser-cut and helped engineer slotting components to achieve a perfect fit and finish for all of the pieces. Known for its colour and quality consistency during laser-cutting and engraving, the choice of Perspex® also ensured a smooth, efficient work flow for the thousands of units produced in 3mm and 5mm.
Despite the tight deadline and high volume order, CT Ltd delivered the project on-time and to a high standard. “We enjoy working with innovative designers like Studio91 which uses laser cutting to interpret current design trends in ways that have never been seen before. It’s a great feeling to know that our work has added an interesting twist to Christmas trees and seasonal decorations in stores around the world!” said Jane Robinson, director at CT Ltd.
