Acrylic Design Winners Celebrate in China

A student from Taiwan National Cheng Kung University has won first prize in Lucite International’s Acrylic Design Competition for his work called ‘Stand Still’. Xu Yuanjin’s concept soap dispenser uses advanced acrylic processing technology to form a uniquely shaped unit, which can be refilled time after time with disposable sachets of liquid soap. ‘Stand Still’ enables users to reduce waste and minimise environmental impact while looking extremely stylish in any bathroom space.

Lucite International at ADEX 2012

Lucite International China (LIC) exhibited at ADEX 2012, 11-14 July 2012 in Shanghai. Working alongside its downstream cast acrylic sheet manufacturer partners, LIC organised the creation of ‘Acrylic Shops’, an area of the exhibition that showcased and promoted the creative opportunities offered by acrylic. Covering an area of 180,000m2 Acrylic Shops attracted thousands of visitors over the four-days and was recognised as one of the highlights of the show.

Chemical Industry Awards (CIA) Winners

Lucite International’s (LI) Cassel site in Billingham, UK has won the Chemical Industry Association’s BIS Excellence in Engineering Award 2012. The award was made in recognition of the significant contribution that engineering improvements have made to site operations and overall business performance. These improvements have been achieved by the local team, which has focused on delivering better overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) using the Company’s rigorous ‘Manufacturing Excellence’ programme, which helps to drive and sustain world-class practices.

Representatives from Lucite International’s (LI) Cassel site in North East England have received BiTC’s (Business in the Community) regional Team of the Year Award for the third year running. The award was given in recognition for the charity work the team has carried out to help children, young people and families who are involved with the Barnardos Bridgeway Project. Team leader, Matthew Bullivant (centre right), and Dave Finch, team member (centre left), accepted the Award from Karen Wilkinson-Bell, BiTC Regional Director, and Nicholas Owen, TV presenter, at a ceremony on 25 June 2012.

Increased MMA and new MAA capacity in the Americas

Lucite International, Inc. (LI) announces that it is progressing with its investment to establish 150kte per year production of Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) in 2012 at its Beaumont, Texas facility. The Company will continue to produce MMA at its Memphis, Tennessee facility, uniquely offering two world scale MMA assets to serve the growing demand of the Americas customer base.
