Big hearted Lucite International employees have set themselves a challenging target as they seek to beat their record breaking charitable achievements.

Staff at the Cassel Site in Billingham raised £3,000 in support of various local and national charities after forming their own fundraising committee in June last year and are confident of exceeding that amount in 2016.

A series of sponsored fun events for employees including dress down days and coffee and cake mornings helped causes including the children’s charities Barnado’s and Children in Need; Race for Life the women-only run raising funds for cancer research and local branches of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Dawn Reed, chair of the Cassel Community Steering Group, said: “It proved to be a record breaking year. It was great that everyone threw themselves into the events we organised and it was unbelievable that we raised so much in what was effectively six months of the year.”

The Company employs around 250 people at the Cassel Site and has a long history of backing Billingham based events including the Community Carnival and the Community Games organised by the Billingham Legacy Foundation.
