At Lucite International, we are immensely proud that so many of our people enjoy long and rewarding careers with us. Many have worked with us for decades, growing personally as well as professionally and seeing the industry, and the wider world, evolve greatly.

Jason Wing, 22nd Technician at our Newton Aycliffe site in the UK, is celebrating 20 years of service with us after having initially joined the company on a temporary basis in 1997. We spoke to Jason about his career.

Twenty years of service is a great achievement. How does this feel?

“Satisfying – it doesn’t feel like I’ve been here for 20 years due to the way the company looks after and supports you, and also because of the camaraderie amongst my colleagues.”

What does a typical day in your role involve?

“As a 22nd Technician, I provide support to shift teams as required with additional training, support shift managers in ensuring this training is up-to-date, and get involved with 3S (a workplace organisation method) around the site.”

What has been your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

“On a professional level – going to Otake, Japan in November 2018 to visit Mitsubishi Chemical’s resins plant and learn more about 3S methodology.

“On a personal level – seeing my son achieve his dream of signing for Middlesbrough FC as a professional footballer.”

What do you like most about your job?

“The number of different projects and seeing ongoing improvements to the plant. For instance, cleaning, painting and area standards.”

What is your motto and personal mantra?

“Don’t think about it, do it.”

What advice would you give new entrants to the company?

“Remember you are part of a team and if you can help in any way, do it.”

Describe working for the company in three words…

“Rewarding, enjoyable, friendly.”
