At Lucite International, we are immensely proud that so many of our people enjoy long and rewarding careers with us. Many have worked with us for decades, growing personally as well as professionally and seeing the industry, and the wider world, evolve greatly.

Trevor Wyatt, Senior Process Engineer at our Wilton site in the UK, is celebrating thirty years with the company in 2019. Trevor reflected on his time and achievements with us…

Thirty years of service is a terrific achievement. How does this achievement feel?

“As I look back it has been very satisfying, mainly because I have enjoyed all my roles within the company and I feel that I have made some significant improvements whilst also continuing to develop personally in ways that I enjoy.”

What does a typical day in your role involve?

“There is no typical day but more of a typical theme which is cultivating operational reliability.  Some days this involves sharing learning within global networking teams; analysing global production metrics; resolving site technical problems; providing overhaul support; commissioning; designing SAR (sulphuric acid recovery) equipment; authoring sulphuric acid technology or sometimes being an active member of a conference.”

When did you first join the company?

“I joined ICI fresh after graduating from Leeds University in 1989 and completed projects and detailed design work as part of the Process Engineering Group at Wilton.

“About 6 years into my career I progressed into my first role in Acrylics, which was at our Cassel site as Development Manager on the ammonium sulphate plant delivering process optimisation, plant design, commissioning and improvements.”

What has been your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

“Successfully commissioning the HCN Plant at our Beaumont site in the USA. It was a massive and very rewarding challenge to take the plant from its construction phase to a state of safe and reliable operation.

“The Commissioning Team was a delight to lead and work with, we all resolved a significant number of design and operational issues and also had a lot of fun in the process.”

What do you enjoy most about your job?

“The fact that I can make real and tangible improvements.”

What is your motto or personal mantra?

“Enjoy and experience life.”

What advice would you give new entrants to the company?

“Explore and discover what you really like to do, then do it well.”

Describe working for Lucite International in three words…

“Rewarding, challenging and enjoyable.”
