TTE Technical Training Group is the UK’s leading provider of technical training to the oil and gas, process, manufacturing and engineering sectors. At its recent awards ceremony, our Instrumentation/Electrical apprentice Luke Marshall, who studied at TTE alongside gaining experience at Lucite International (LI), was presented with the most prestigious Managing Directors 2018 Award!

At the awards, TTE recognized the achievements of a group of its leaners in front of an audience including the students and their families, representatives from colleges, sponsoring employers, and local and international industry members of the UK’s North East business community.

Luke, 22, was nominated for the Instrument Technician of the Year award by our Learning and Development Officer Faith Hambley for his exceptional progress throughout his apprenticeship and his charitable work outside the workplace. Faith said: “Luke’s enthusiasm to make a positive difference has made him a popular colleague and we were delighted to find out he had won the most prestigious award at the event. He truly does exemplify the value of investing in young people and he has an exciting career ahead of him.”

Luke joined the I/E Maintenance team at our Cassel site in August 2016 and made an immediate positive impression with his attitude towards work, demonstrating his determination and focus by completing his NVQ Level 3 in Instrumentation in 10 months.

Luke’s commitment to getting the most from his training and supporting others was highlighted on the evening. He regularly supported TTE open evenings and worked with LI to encourage school leavers to consider engineer as a career via the apprenticeship route.

The evening was rounded off by an inspirational talk by Perry McCarthy, the original ‘Stig’ from the BBC’s Top Gear TV program.

Steve Grant, Managing Director of TTE said: “Luke, along with the other learners we celebrated at our awards event, are definitely the future of industry and will ensure that companies in the North East, across the UK and around the world can call on talented, motivated and skilled people to play a significant part in their operations.”

Luke said: “I am very proud to win the Managing Director’s Award, which is a highlight of my time as an apprentice with LI and TTE.  The trainers have all be really supportive and encouraging, as have been my colleagues at LI and I am grateful for the opportunities they have given me.  My apprenticeship has been the best route for a career in industry and I would encourage anyone to follow the same path.”
