At Lucite International, we are immensely proud that so many of our people enjoy long and rewarding careers with us. Many have worked with us for decades, growing personally as well as professionally and seeing the industry, and the wider world, evolve greatly.

Linda Mindertsma, Management Assistant & HR Officer at our Rozenburg, Netherlands site, is celebrating twenty years with us in 2019. Linda reflected on her time and achievements with us…

Twenty years of service is a terrific achievement. How does this achievement feel?

“It doesn’t actually feel like an achievement! I honestly wonder “where did the time go?”.

What does a typical day in your role involve?

“Fortunately, there is no typical day in my role. Every day is different, the only thing that’s always the same is starting up the computer, getting a coffee and seeing what the day brings! Expect the unexpected and just go for it!”

When did you first join the company?

“As I have been working here for twenty years, I am of the ‘ICI’ era. In April 1997, I was hired in a temporary secretarial role. Two years later, I was asked to take on that role permanently, so I formally joined the company in April 1999 as Secretary for ICI Acrylics & Site Services here at Rozenburg.

What has been your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

“This is hard for me to say. I think I’m just proud of being able to push myself to improve and learn, overcome any hurdles and keep on smiling!”

What do you enjoy most about your job?

“That would have to be the diversity of the job and my colleagues, being able to forge your own path, participate in projects and be part of a family. Being in touch with people from different business areas, departments and countries allows you to learn so much. As a small site within a large multinational company, we have the benefits of both worlds.”

What is your motto or personal mantra?

“I don’t have a motto or personal mantra – but I feel it’s important to really listen to others, be patient, don’t judge too easily and keep an open mind!”

What advice would you give new entrants to the company?

“Make sure you’re able to do what you are good at. Develop your interests and areas where you might be able to improve, but don’t wait for others to work out what you can do, just show them!

Describe working for Lucite International in three words…

“Family, flexible, future.”
