Earlier this year, our Cassel site in the UK pledged to make a charitable donation of £10,000 to recognise good business performance and the efforts of all those involved in the site’s safe and successful 2018.

Cassel’s people were invited to nominate charities to be considered and, following a site-wide poll, the decision was made to split the donation between four charities. Over the last few weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting these charities, learning about their fantastic work and presenting a ceremonial ‘big cheque’ to commemorate the donations and our support.

Topping the poll was Harbour, a charity based in the North East of England which works with families and individuals who are affected by abuse from a partner, former partner or other family member. Harbour received a total of £5,000 towards its services.

Next, we visited the James Cook University Hospital to present a donation of £2,000 to its Neonatal unit – meeting some of their hard-working team and learning about how far a donation of this kind will go. This was shortly followed by a visit to the team at North East England Children’s Cancer Research, presenting £2,000 to a charity which has established itself as one of the world leaders in the research of childhood cancer.

Finally, a donation of £1,000 was presented to Woodsmoke Group – a charity providing educational outdoor adventure experiences which focus on developing children’s social skills, self-confidence and independence – to help it continue its valuable services.

Activities of this nature, which allow us to demonstrate our support for local communities, are important to us. As a Group Company of Mitsubishi Chemical, this aligns strongly with our KAITEKI values – working towards the sustainable well-being of people, society and our planet Earth.
