At our Cassel site in the UK, we help to encourage excellent safety, health and environmental (SHE) performance with an award scheme which awards a local charity £1,000 every 90 days if certain SHE criteria are met.

In March, the great efforts of everyone at Cassel meant we could make another donation. This time, however, we’ve done things a little differently. It’s impossible to ignore the huge strain on health services around the world at the moment, so we decided to split the donation between hospitals and community services local to the site. Here’s more…

North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust

Our £400 donation will be used to help fund equipment needed during the COVID-19 outbreak across a variety of wards.

South Tees Hospitals Charity

This charity includes the James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital. We spoke to the charity hub team, who told us our £400 donation will provide staff with welfare packs containing food, drinks, clothing and toiletries. It will also go towards other health and wellbeing initiatives to support staff in this difficult time.

Catalyst Community Hub, Stockton-on-Tees

Food banks in the area are struggling with a significant shortage of supplies due to the current increased demand. Our £200 donation will be used to buy provisions for some of the most vulnerable in the communities around Cassel site.

Catalyst’s COVID-19 community support team helps out widely, from doing food shopping or picking up prescriptions, to dog walking and making sure people who are self-isolating or feeling worried get the support they need.
