At Lucite International (LI), “having a passion for safety, health and the environment (SHE)” is our number one priority and a core value for all who work for us. Following the United Nations’ World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we introduced a series of features speaking to SHE specialists at LI about their role.

Today, we hear from Pongsin Muangsri, SHE Manager at LI’s Thailand site (TPA).

What is your current role and when did you join LI?

I joined LI in 1996, and I am currently Safety, Health and Environment Manager at TPA.

What are the key focus points of your role?

Much of my role involves aligning TPA’s activities with LI’s 21 Elements of SHE Excellence, used to drive performance improvements.

What do you enjoy most about working in SHE?

I enjoy working for the wider benefit of the business in an area that also ensures the safety and wellbeing of all of our employees.

What are the most significant ways in which SHE practices have evolved in the last 10 years?

I think SHE practices are a lot more thorough. LI is continuously improving the measures it takes to protect its people, the conditions of its sites, the community and the wider environment.

How does the challenge of causing zero harm/zero injuries influence your work at LI?

My work is influenced at all times by the need to eradicate all potential for unsafe conditions and to educate against unsafe actions.

At LI, our attitude to safety is reflected in the belief that all injuries and incidents are 100% preventable. This links to our culture of continuous improvement, as we strive each day to achieve zero harm and zero injuries.
