It’s been a year of dramatic changes to all our lives, and we must not forget to pause and appreciate the huge efforts and sacrifices people everywhere have made to keep the world moving as safely as possible. While these efforts are far from over, we spoke to leaders across our business about some of the things that have brought glimmers of hope and encouragement throughout this difficult year.

From Japan…

“Everyone at Lucite International can be proud of responding to such uncertainty, supplying our customers reliably and working together as one team. When acrylic became a key product in ‘virus screens’, our teams’ daily efforts helped keep society running. They can all be proud,” said Satoshi Kurokawa, APAC general manager. “I’d like to express my sincere thanks for their responsibility and courage that helped achieve this. I’m really happy to work together with our teams to contribute to making the world a better place through KAITEKI, and I look forward to going further with this in the coming year.”

From the United States…

“Throughout this difficult year, the can-do spirit of the Lucite team was on full display. The flexibility, courage, generosity, and professionalism were evident each day as they responded to the many personal and business challenges associated with the pandemic and Gulf Coast hurricanes. The team kept the business going and quickly adjusted to provide the raw materials needed for infection barriers and face shields,” said Tim May, president of Lucite International, Inc. “In the midst of this came the announcement of the 2021 closure of the Beaumont site. We can all learn from them,” Tim added. “The Beaumont team continued to deliver, and their character and professionalism displayed during this difficult period should serve as an example for all.”

From the United Kingdom…

“As an essential business, our teams have worked tirelessly to make sure our plants stayed safely operational, and some team members had to adapt very quickly to working from home,” said Phil Bailey, EMEA general manager. “We were dedicated to fulfilling our role as an essential business by contributing to essential industries, particularly the medical sector, where acrylic has made a real contribution to public health by helping to prevent the spread of the virus in public places. Working on products that people rely on every day is what inspires us,” continued Phil.

Wherever you are in the world, we hope that you are encouraged by the signs of light at the end of this “year 2020 tunnel” as some countries begin rolling out vaccines. From everyone at Lucite International, we would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season.
